Last week, the AFA (Argentine Football Association) confirmed it would change the system of Argentina's first division for the season 2012/2013, so that instead of 20 teams were to have 38 (so almost all the teams of the second division go to become part of the first) divided into two zones. This caused anger in many people because it was a clear measure to make River Plate back to first division, for leave out of danger of relegation to the other big teams of Argentina (Independiente, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo de Almagro and Racing), which are some committed to the fight to avoid relegation; and is something that would completely undermine the Argentine football, something embarrassing.
Then, supporters of many teams organized protests in various cities across the country on Tuesday, August 2, at 19 hours, and the main was to be in Buenos Aires at the AFA headquarters. A day before the protests, the president of the AFA announced that reversed with the project to change the system of Argentine football, which made far fewer people go to protest the next day. In the main protest (in Buenos Aires) some demonstrators started throwing some bottles at the police, but nothing else happened, they were minor incidents.
Another thing that was to claim is the resignation of the president of AFA (Julio Grondona), a mobster who is in that post from 1979 (which is unprecedented) and has great responsibility in the crisis of the Argentine clubs.
By the time the protest started, all the authorities of the AFA had already left the headquarter.
