Police arrest 10 for attack on English supporter in Sofia

Sofia police arrested 10 men for attacking an English football supporter at about midnight in central Sofia on September 1, the Interior Ministry said.

According to the police, a row had erupted on Vitosha Boulevard, although the reason for it was not immediately clear. Police officers on the scene found Bulgarian nationals attacking an English supporter, who was later taken to hospital and allowed to leave after a medical check-up.

The ministry said that the police was investigating the case, but in the meantime have detained 10 Bulgarians in preventive 24-hour arrest, including four minors. Two of those 10 had criminal records.

In a separate incident, police arrested a ticket tout near Vassil Levski national stadium, who was targeting English fans, but it was not immediately clear how many visiting supporters had purchased tickets from the man.
