FK AUSTRIA WIEN 1911









Foundation: 15. March 1911, first game 12. March 1911
Colours: violet and white

23 times austrian champion, 27 times austrian cupwinner (record in austria), 6 times austrian supercup winner, 21 times winner of the traditional viennese indoor cup (2 times austrian indoor champion), 1978 final of cup winners cup (lost against RSC Anderlecht in Paris 0-1),
2 times mitropacupwinner (this was the old europacup between 1918 and 1938).

As most of the austrian teams this club has a funny history: the beginning of playing football in austria was in the late 90is of the 19th century. Originally two teams did this: FIRST VIENNA FOOTBALL CLUB (the oldest team in austria) and CRICKET AND FOOTBALL TEAM 1894. in october 1910 some players left this team and founded the “WIENER AMATEURSPORT VEREIN” (viennese amateur sportsclub), which was the first name of Austria Wien (from 1911 to 1926). In march 1911 they beacme an official member of the football association. In this year the austrian championships starts and Austria Wien played since this time in the first league. Only Rapid Wien, the other big club did this in the same way. In the year 1925, in austria started the professionalism in football (second oldest, only in england the professionalism in football was much older). As the old name AMATEURE was not right, they changed the name into AUSTRIA WIEN, this was the name of the swimming section.

In the 70s and 80s there was the most sucessful time in the history of AUSTRIA WIEN and so the fanscene beacme bigger and bigger. In these years, the hooligan movement swept to austria, the first firms were found.

Austria Wien had a good firm with the “ZUCKERBÄCKER” (Confectioner), other groups were the VIOLET VIKINGS, DONAUSTADT, LARAMIE. In 1983 the ZUCKERBACKER called themselves ATZGERSDORFER (a part of vienna like Favoriten or Donaustadt) and some new crews started. 1985 the AUSTRIA WIEN ULTRAS came, a hooligan firm, 1992 the BULLDOGS AUSTRIA WIEN, two years later with the WEISSVIOLETT BRIGADEN the first ultragroup came, also the MANIACS, a top hooliganfirm. On 2nd june 1995 FEDAYN VIENNA were the new ultra group, 1997 SOCCERHOLICS AUSTRIA WIEN (SHAW) came, a british styled group and after a while VIOLA FANATICS 2001 started doing their work. Now they are the biggest ultragroup. Other groups are KAI 2000, BOYS VIOLA 2003 and INFERNO 2010 (which was a part of BV). Nowadays there were another good hooligan firm called UNSTERBLICH WIEN (1997).

The Ultras are apolitical, the Hooligans are right.

Yes, in the youth past between the groups Inferno Wien and Boys Viola. There is a video from a game in October 2010. Before the match, we hanged our banner in the middle of the first standing. After six minutes, the riots begin. The national austria channel, show some seconds of the riots. Here is the video from youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JV9uuq_OzM

Normally, the boys are hanging in the middle of the first standing, because they are the main group of the first standing. We think, that we are the truth main group, because we are doing more for the curva.

Not really "the control", but everyone respects the Viola Fanatics as main group (There banner hangs in the middle of the second standing).

And why do you have disagreement with Boys Viola?

A short time, we could read in the internet forum of Boys Viola, because one member of them was so stupid to use "12345" has is codeword. They sweared our group and our Capo, so we say they get the swearing back. The next thing was, that many people thought, that the Boys are not the really main group in the first standing, because they have not many members, and that they are doing their work not so good as in the past. So, we hang our banner at this game in the october 2010 in the middle of the first standing. After 6 minutes, the Boys wanted to hang their banner over our banner. So we must defend our banner, and the riot began.

And what are other groups opinion at Austria? They agree with Fanatics or Boys Viola?

saw some games from austria if they lose there is no athmosphere at all... but in the derby they make a good one ... a question why are there only a few fans at a away games? when i look to the rapid away games there is always a full away sector and the austrian away sector is always half empty ....

They are at protest ... capo has stadioin band and they still protest, so no bannersm, drums etc
